ACORD Forms & Documentation

ACORD 127 (Driver Schedule)

A standard ACORD form listing all drivers covered under a commercial auto policy with their license and demographic information.

What It Is

The ACORD 127, or Driver Schedule, is the companion form to the ACORD 137 and ACORD 23. While the ACORD 23 lists vehicles, the ACORD 127 lists all drivers authorized to operate insured vehicles. Each entry includes the driver's name, date of birth, license number, state of licensure, date hired, and years of driving experience.

Carriers use this information to order Motor Vehicle Reports (MVRs) and assess the overall risk profile of the driver pool. The ACORD 127 is particularly important for fleet accounts where driver quality significantly affects underwriting and pricing.

The form also includes fields for noting any driver restrictions, CDL status, and driver training or certification programs.

Why It Matters for Brokers

Driver quality is one of the most important rating factors in commercial auto. A single driver with multiple violations or a DUI can cause a carrier to decline the entire account. Brokers must ensure the ACORD 127 is complete and current, listing every driver who operates company vehicles. Incomplete driver schedules create E&O exposure. If a driver not listed on the schedule causes an accident, the carrier may dispute coverage, and the insured will look to the broker for the gap.

Real-World Example

A delivery company with 25 drivers submits a commercial auto renewal. The broker updates the ACORD 127 to reflect three drivers who left the company and two new hires. MVR checks on the new hires reveal one has a clean record and one has a speeding ticket from two years ago. The broker proactively addresses the violation with the underwriter, securing a quote without a surcharge by documenting the driver's completion of a defensive driving course.

Common Mistakes

  • 1Not removing terminated employees from the driver schedule, which inflates the driver count and can increase premium.
  • 2Failing to list all drivers, including part-time or occasional operators, which can void coverage in a claim.
  • 3Not updating the schedule mid-term when new drivers are hired, leaving them uninsured until the next renewal.

How brokerageaudit.com Handles This

Submission Intake cross-references the ACORD 127 against the client's employee roster and flags discrepancies in driver counts. The platform tracks driver changes throughout the policy term and prompts mid-term endorsement requests when new drivers are added.
